230 associates from Bank of America’s Global Markets and Global Operations divisions participated in a Build-a-Bike® charity team-building event in Charlotte, North Carolina. 30 teams spent the afternoon building bikes. Every bike went to the Stratford Richardson YMCA, and several local kids came to the event to pick out their new bikes.
Bank of America is one of the largest financial institutions in the world. It serves millions of customers and small businesses and is a global leader in corporate banking.
Bank of America Associates Build Bikes for Charlotte Kids at Annual Build-A-Bike® Event
For Bank of America’s newest associates, this event has become a tradition. Each year, the bank brings its first- and second-year associates together for an event combining professional development with community impact.
This year, 230 associates filled the room and split into 30 teams. The build was competitive, with teams pushing to finish their bikes. But the main goal getting the job done together. Teams supported each other and worked across the Global Markets and Global Operations divisions to get every bike built.
For associates early in their careers, the afternoon was a chance to meet colleagues outside their own teams and work toward something bigger than a deadline.
The Moment the Kids Picked Their Bikes
When the bikes were finished, several children from the Stratford Richardson YMCA joined the celebration and picked out their new bikes. Their faces lit up as they chose. The YMCA has been a longtime community partner of Bank of America. Its involvement means the bikes will keep making a difference for Charlotte kids long after the event.
Thank You, Bank of America
We’d like to thank Bank of America for making Build-A-Bike® an annual tradition for its new associates. We would also like to thank the Stratford YMCA for the work they do for the community.
