Boston Scientific’s urology product development engineering team hosted a Build-A-Bike® Team-Building Event in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The event was set up under a tent in the company’s parking lot. Instead of designing medical devices, the engineers spent the afternoon building bikes. Every bike went to the Boys and Girls Club of Marlboro for kids in the community.
Boston Scientific is a global medical technology company that develops solutions for debilitating and life-threatening conditions. It works in more than 100 countries to improve patient care by lowering costs, improving efficiency, and expanding access.
Boston Scientific Engineers Give Back With Build-A-Bike® Team-Building Event in Marlborough, MA
This team builds medical devices for a living, so precision, problem-solving, and working across disciplines are part of the daily job. Build-A-Bike® put those same skills to work on a very different product.
There was no conference room this time. The team gathered under a tent right in the company parking lot. Teams went through the steps, worked out the build together, and turned boxes of parts into finished bikes. The energy stayed high from start to finish, and the team gave it everything they had.
For a team built around improving people’s lives, the bikes fit naturally. The afternoon tied directly into Boston Scientific’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and gave the engineers a project with a clear benefit for kids close to home.
Bikes for the Boys and Girls Club of Marlboro
Every bike went to the Boys and Girls Club of Marlboro, which serves young people in the Marlboro community. That made the build more than a team-building exercise. Local kids will be riding what these engineers built.
