Subsea7 Choose aMAZEing Builders for Their Corporate Retreat in Houston

Subsea7 hosted an aMAZEing Builders corporate charity team building retreat in Houston as part of their annual meeting. This was the second event of their annual meeting and instead of slowing things down, aMAZEing Builders kept the pace up and added a different kind of challenge. Teams jumped into an obstacle-style experience that mixed movement, problem-solving, and a bit of chaos in the best way. Along the way, every win translated into supplies that would later support a local cause, giving the whole thing a practical outcome.

Subsea7 operates as a leader in offshore energy services. The company supports the transition to lower-carbon oil and gas solutions. They also play a key role in expanding renewable and emerging energy sources. Through innovation and continuous improvement, Subsea7 helps shape the future of energy. Their work enables clients to meet evolving demands in a changing global market.

With multiple teams running the course at once, the room didn’t stay quiet for long. Groups rotated through obstacle-style stations, guiding blindfolded teammates while trying to keep instructions clear and concise. Some teams nailed communication right away. Others took a few rounds to figure out how to say less and mean more. Either way, the learning curve played out in real time, which made it fun to watch.

The scale of the group made a difference here. There was constant movement, overlapping conversations, and extreme energy throughout the entire attendance. Teams adjusted quickly, switching up roles and strategies between rounds. It never felt repetitive because each attempt brought a slightly different approach. The friendly competition kept things moving, but nobody got stuck on winning. The focus stayed on getting through each challenge as a group.

As teams collected supplies, the bigger picture started to come into view. Everything they earned would go toward a backpack donation effort with the YMCA. These supplies will be distributed during their annual event in August, helping kids head into the school year prepared. Knowing where the items were going added a layer of purpose without slowing the pace of the activity. It gave the group a clear finish line that extended beyond the room.

We give a big thank you to Subsea7 for their generous contribution. We also thank the YMCA for their continued commitment to supporting communities.
