The Assurance Group (TAG) closed their annual Summer Sales Event with a Build-A-Bike® charity team building event at the Grandover Resort & Spa in Greensboro, North Carolina. Roughly 80 insurance agents and leaders split into 10 teams, competed through challenges, and assembled 10 bicycles. The bikes were donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Triad, which sent 10 children on-site to receive them in person.
The Assurance Group is one of the nation’s largest insurance marketing organizations, serving independent agents and carriers across the United States. Their annual Summer Sales Event brings the full network together under a shared theme. This year’s was WIT: Whatever It Takes.
TAG Annual Sales Meeting Ends with 10 Bikes Going to Boys & Girls Clubs as Kids Arrive On-Site at Build-A-Bike® Event in Greensboro
TAG events run like reunions. Agents travel from across the country. Leadership fills the room. This year, the CEO’s wife Beverly Shackelford was in the Carlisle Ballroom — along with her grandson, who has attended these gatherings since birth.
Ten teams competed through Build-A-Bike® challenges with three TAG leadership judges watching. Damian Johnson of The Leaders Institute led the event. Every component had to be earned. The room stayed competitive through the final build.
When the bikes were finished, Ray Trapp, Director of Advancement at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Triad, walked in with 10 children. Each child received one of the bikes built that afternoon. The donation landed in the room in real time.
TAG’s team filmed the event and played a recap video for the full group. Agents who had just built those bikes watched themselves hand them to children, and the room filled with tears. One leader called the facilitation phenomenal and named it the highlight of the week. Plans to return next year for an even larger group are already in motion.
