The Finance Class of 102 is a postgraduate program at Kiewit. Participants spend a week in capstone training and build team presentations. Their goal is to join the Kiewit team when the program ends.

Rebecca Rivas split the class into 11 teams for an evening Build-A-Bike® event. The teams stepped away from their presentations and earned bike parts through challenges. Then they put each bicycle together.

Teammates leaned on communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. Those were the same skills they had practiced all week. Rebecca said the build reinforced one of Kiewit’s strongest core values, being a team player.

This was not Kiewit’s first ride with us. Kiewit University has hosted bike builds for interns, new managers, and earlier finance classes. Kiewit has hosted more than a dozen events with us over the years.

The class donated all 11 bikes to Completely KIDS. The Omaha nonprofit runs after-school, teen, adult education, and weekend food programs. Its representatives spoke to the group and picked up the bikes that night. Completely KIDS helps kids and families build the skills to break the cycle of poverty.
